Rooftop AC Detach and Reset with ProWest Roofing

Rooftop AC Detach and Reset with ProWest Roofing

A real Sapper HVAC project: morning AC detach, crane coordination and an afternoon rooftop reset with ProWest Roofing.

Sapper HVAC completed an HVAC detach and reset in coordination with ProWest Roofing. The project involved temporarily removing an existing rooftop air-conditioning unit so the roofing crew could access the work area, then returning the equipment to the roof for the reset.

Morning detach and crane coordination

Our crew arrived at 8 a.m. to disconnect the AC's electrical connections and prepare the equipment for the crane. The unit was lifted from the roof and lowered to the ground, giving ProWest access around the equipment location.

Roof access after the detach

With the package unit removed, the roofing crew had access to the equipment area, curb and surrounding roof surface. These project photos document the exposed work area before the HVAC equipment was returned.

Afternoon reset

Later that day, Sapper HVAC returned for the reset. The existing packaged rooftop unit was returned to its position, completing the HVAC detach and reset.

This was a detach and reset of existing equipment—not a new AC installation. The completed HVAC reset is separate from the roofing crew's remaining work.

Why roofing and HVAC crews coordinate

When roofing work requires moving a rooftop AC, the roofing contractor, HVAC crew and crane operator need an agreed sequence. Homeowners should confirm who handles equipment disconnection, lifting, resetting and the checks needed before returning the system to service.

Planning the detach and return visit together helps each trade understand when the equipment and roof work area will be available. The exact scope depends on the unit, its connections and the roofing project.
